Welcome Aboard!
Welcome to the Paradise Fleet devlog. This is where we’ll be sharing our development journey, technical deep-dives, design decisions, and progress updates as we build Paradise Fleet!
What is Paradise Fleet?
Paradise Fleet is a cruise ship management simulation inspired by SimAirport and Prison Architect. You’ll design and build your dream cruise ships, manage passengers and crew with unique characteristics, and navigate the challenges of running a resort on the open sea.
The game will feature:
- Grid-based ship design: design your ship however you prefer, fulfill the needs of your passengers and crew and make money!
- Management mechanics: balance passenger satisfaction, crew morale, and profitability
- Full creative freedom to create your cruise ships however big and with whatever facilities you want
- Low-poly 3D visuals with a high level of personalisation
- Route mechanics: different routes will bring different passengers, with different needs and challenges
Why make Paradise Fleet?
Management simulations have always been a favorite of mine. I spent a good number of my formative years playing games like Sim City, Locomotion, and Roller Coaster Tycoon. More recently, titles like Prison Architect, Two Point Hospital, and SimAirport have shown that the genre has a lot of potential to be expanded.
Yet cruise ship management remains relatively unexplored territory, Cruise ships encompass several elements of management sims, the systems of a city builder, the day to day of a hotel/resort sim, and the challenges of a transport simulator
And most of all because Cruise ships are fun! Having spent some time in them, it has been a dream for a while to be able to build my own and I would like to share that with all the players.
What to Expect Here
This devlog will feature:
- Progress updates on what we built and what we learned
- Technical deep-dives into systems like the grid, pathfinding, and UI
- Art and design breakdowns of how we approach the aesthetics of the game and the challenges of learning how to 3d model
- Occasional video captures of new features
The Roadmap
We’re on a 10-month path to deliver a playable demo by August 2026. Here’s the high-level plan:
Months 1-3: Core tech and mechanics (grid system, camera, basic gameplay) Months 4-6: Content expansion and improved mechanics Months 7-9: Polish, visuals, and audio Month 10: Demo hardening and preparation
Each sprint is two weeks, with regular builds and devlog updates to keep you in the loop.
